Our Little Builder

Xalen has become quite the little builder.  For his third birthday he got a set of blocks that came with a plan book with a bunch of different builds.  At first he had a hard time just getting the blocks to snap together, but he kept trying and before long he was pretty good at it.

A few months ago he gained new interest in the block and the little plan book too and he sat down and built a guy from the plans.  He has always be the one to master a technique before moving on, very cautious, so for several months he would rebuild the same guy. 

We have been having some issues with manners around our house so Sean decided to try the reward for good behavior technique that has worked before.  One day at lunch he visited the lego outlet and picked up some building kits.  Each day that he uses good manners he gets to build a portion of the kit before bed.  He loves it!  He will pick out all the pieces he needs from the plan and for the most part can put them in their places too.  He does need help getting them fully engaged most of the time. 

I think this new lego time with Dad has sparked new interest in his builders too.  Earlier this week I received a picture from home with his newest build, a nice float plane:
